  • CE marking
  • The CE marking (also known as CE mark) is a mandatory conformity mark on many products placed on the single market in the European Economic Area (EEA). The CE marking certifies that a product has met EU consumer safety, health or environmental requirements-in particular with regard to health protection and the safety of users and consumers-and may thus be freely circulated on the Community market.

  • ISO 9001 Quality
  • ISO 9001 is by far the world's most established quality framework, currently being used by around 897,000 organizations in 170 countries worldwide, and sets the standard not only for quality management systems, but management systems in general.

  • What does BS6206 denote?
  • This British Standard specifies performance requirements and a test method in respect of energy absorption (impact) for flat safety glass and safety plastics for use in buildings. These requirements are intended to reduce the risk of injuries caused by cutting and piercing in accidents where these materials are involved.
    In order to be classified as an impact safe material glass is subjected to the British Safety Standard Test BS6206. This test defines the level at which glass will "break safe".
    Glass can achieve three grading stages within the standard-A, B or C, where A is the highest performance level.
    The test incorporates the dropping of a weight from three heights onto a standard sized pane of glass.
    The point at which the glass breaks forms part of its classification. In addition the size of any hole left after impact is included in the certification process.
    These drop heights are as follows:
    305mmPass = Class C
    457mmPass = Class B
    1219mm Pass = Class A
    IMPORTANTLY materials that are classified as safety material meeting the performance criteria of BS6206 MUST carry an identifiable mark showering the level of safety achieved.
    All toughened glasses of Sloegrin comply with BS6206.

  • What is IP44?
  • It is important to understand the rating by which bathroom lights are classified. IP rating stands for 'Ingress Protection' and is always followed by 2 characters. These 2 numbers refer to the level of protection (from dust, water, steam).
    IP: Index letter: Protection against accidental or inadvertent contact and against ingress of foreign bodies.
    4: first characteristic numeral: Protection against grain figured foreign bodies.
    Protection against tools wires or similar objects with diameter > 1mm. Protection against small foreign solid bodies with diameter > 1 mm.
    4: second index figure: Splash proof
    Protection against splash water from all directions.
    It is important that you choose fittings with the correct rating according to where they are to be sited within the bathroom. The higher the IP rating the more protected the light is. All Sloegrin electrical products (Mirrors and Cabinets) are IP44 rated or higher (higher level of protection). IP44 is the most common IP rating used in bathroom lighting products.
